John Dunsford & Associates is an independent practice which provides health and welfare for our patients and support to their owners. We look at each of our patients as individuals and take the time to notice the developing and potential problems in stoical and obliging patients. We look at our patient’s soundness with an experienced eye and have an incisive approach to lameness and poor performance refined over more than twenty years. We understand that all discomforts and problems cause further discomforts and problems elsewhere, and that these inter-relationships need to be understood for a horse to be truly comfortable and free moving. We also provide comprehensive veterinary services from breeding to geriatric care and prioritise preventative medicine. We provide our own a 24-hour on-call cover for the practice’s patients. In the rare cases where surgery under general anaesthesia is needed, we can refer to a center of your choice, including in an emergency. As well as visiting patients at their homes we favour pursuing some investigations and procedures at our clinic where you will be made welcome and can stay to watch. We have found that in our familiar and friendly environment, with our experienced staff, and by having the patient away from their home environment we can deliver a better, safer and more thorough service.
For our owners we provide a personal and kind relationship where we get to know you and know your animal. We always try to understand our owner’s circumstances together with what they want to achieve with their horses.
We believe that sound and comfortable horses are the best company, are safer, are less prone to injury and turn in the best performances. We are always keen to explain and to involve clients and are pleased when owners are interested and involved. Our experience is that when owners are on board in a team effort we get the best outcome, and usually more quickly too.
If you are interested in your horse as an individual, in their wellbeing and their soundness and you want to get the best from them we may well be the practice for you. If you think you might like to join our practice please contact us by phone, email or on-line and leave us an email address. We will send you a brief outline of our practice and if that sits well with you let us know and John will phone you for a brief chat so we can get to know each other and answer any questions. Afterwards we can send you a new client form. We ask new client’s permission to run a basic customer credit and identity check and to ask your previous practice if you have any outstanding accounts and if we may request the clinical records.
Our practice has a policy of requiring all animals to be declared in their passports as never being destined for human consumption. This allows us to use a full range of veterinary drugs to safeguard our patients’ welfare.
Please find attached our introduction to the practice for those interested in joining us.
